Bull Markets last longer and earn more? or Bear Markets last longer and lose more?

HAVE YOU EVER WONDER, FROM 1982 UNTIL TODAY, HOW LONG DOES A BEAR MARKET LAST AND HOW MUCH % LOST RECORDED? OR IS IT THAT BULL MARKET THAT LAST LONGER AND EARNED MORE?

Initially, I always thought bear market is more LONGER than bull market, because my parents told me so. And the newspaper always HIGHLIGHTED bear market, making extreme BIG news about it. I also heard from kopitiam and MBKS (Majlis Perbandaran Kuching Selatan) uncles said so.

My relatives and friends always say, "Cannot play lar! 'Dian dian' lose money one!!"

But what FUND MANAGER SAID: According to research finding (proven already), from year 1982 until 2009, AVERAGE BULL MARKET LAST for 24mths, and its AVERAGE RETURN is +141%.................................... whereas, AVERAGE BEAR MARKET LAST for 15mths, and its AVERAGE RETURN is -46%.....
